Release Testing with aqua: Webinar Recording Now Online

Release testing gets messy fast when multiple releases, reusable test cases and changing results collide. In our webinar recap, we show three practical ways to structure this in aqua - and which approach works best in which situation.

How can test teams keep track of test executions across several releases without rebuilding structures every time?

That was the focus of our webinar “Release Testing with aqua: Planning and Managing Test Executions Efficiently.” Tom Noll, Head of Managed Services at andagon, showed practical ways to structure test cases and test executions in aqua and keep release testing transparent and manageable.

Keeping release testing under control

For test managers, one of the most important questions is simple: Where do we currently stand?

The webinar demonstrated how workflows, test scenarios and dashboards can help teams see which tests are ready, which have already been executed, what has passed or failed, and what still needs attention. A clear and deliberately lean test-case workflow can make this considerably easier.

Three ways to organise tests across releases

Tom compared three approaches for structuring release tests in aqua:

  • organising releases through folders
  • reusing the same test scenario for several releases
  • creating a separate test scenario for each release

Each approach has advantages and limitations. For many release-testing situations, Tom recommends working with a separate scenario per release because it makes results and historical test states easier to track. For automated testing, however, reusing a scenario can often be more practical.

The tool alone is not enough

Another important takeaway was that efficient release testing depends on more than the tool itself. Requirements, defects and versions also need to be maintained consistently so that teams can clearly determine what belongs to which release and what needs to be tested or retested.

The live Q&A explored this further with practical questions around bug retests, test-case filters, folder structures, project copies and automated tests across different software versions.
