In June 2004, andagon accepted the assignment of the telecommunications company T-Mobile to create a process-orientated test automation solution according to specific requirements.
When standard solutions fail due to a lack of complexity and insufficient individuality, or if special requests such as the networking across several countries are expressed – then it is time for new solutions. For the area of test automation, andagon delivered the solution with the “international test automation platform”, iTAP for short.
Breaking through Barriers – an Integral Business Process as a Test Case
iTAP shifts the previous boundaries of test automation – and in doing so cancels some of these: an integrated business process is modelled and executed as a test case, whereby all of T-Mobiles’ used test-tools (HP, IBM Rational, in-house developments) are integrated. Besides the possible integration of external testing tools, iTAP has its own tools, which support typically neglected interfaces (SQL, UNIX, Java, VB, etc.). An integration of the HP Quality Centre in iTAP also ensued.
Due to its intuitive and clear structure, iTAP is widely accepted by its users. As never before, the clear representation of test runs as a workflow enables an accessibility of test systems for expert users without a background in information technology.
Uwe Günther Nast (Vice President IS Quality) expresses the success as follows: “The automated testing of our information systems has reached an unprecedented degree of efficiency. At the same time, optimal communication among teams is ensured, also on an international level.”
