All highlights of aqua 19.1

New layout for main window

aqua is getting even easier! That was our goal with the new implementation of the aqua main window. During the modernization we put a lot of emphasis on simplifying the interface, making it clearer and more accessible. And it has also become faster.

An important change: The navigation area for switching between the aqua modules (e.g. reports, dashboard, navigation, etc.) is more prominently visible and newly placed on the left side. In our usability testing, we found a significant improvement in accessibility for new aqua users.

Complete reporting

The new aqua reporting. With aqua 19.1, the aqua Web Client has become even better. From now on, reports can be completely designed and configured in the web client. The editor is designed for simplicity and displays a great overview of the report structure. So your new favorite report is designed and launched even faster.

For all teams that already have a lot of great reports: With the new report search function you can find the right report in no time.

Accessibility according to BITV 2.0

It is our declared goal to make aqua as accessible as possible for all users. An important guideline for this is Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung, BITV for short. The new aqua release brings many improvements regarding the BITV 2.0 criteria:

With version 19.1, the aqua web client can be comprehensively operated via keyboard. Here we have optimized the tab sequences, i.e. the possibility to move through the interface via keyboard. To make the whole thing as efficient as possible for people who are completely dependent on the keyboard, we have additionally defined areas that can be jumped to directly without having to shimmy through them. The F4 key can be used to quickly switch between these different sections.

For various important functions we have created additional keyboard shortcuts, e.g. 'Ctrl+S' for saving or ESC for closing a dialog without having to use the mouse.

Which shortcuts are available can be easily displayed at any time by pressing the F1 key.

In addition, keyboard traps have been removed, colors and contrasts in masks have been adjusted for better recognition, the clarity of various masks has been improved and numerous detail improvements for accessibility have been implemented.

Command mode (BITV 2.0)

The 'aqua command input': Especially important for the significant improvement of accessibility according to BITV 2.0 and usability is the new functionality:

By pressing the F10 key, users can open an intelligent aqua command line, which makes all buttons available to the user via a simple text entry.

This allows users to have all available commands and action options listed clearly one below the other, without having to search for them in the interface or jump to them. These can then either be selected directly using up and down keys, or simply written out. An "auto-complete" function makes this especially easy.

User views filterable

Everyone who has ever worked with the aqua views knows how useful they are in daily work. And just because they are so practical, aqua users and teams like to create a larger number of views. But how to find the right "aqua View" in the list of views? With aqua 19.1, it's child's play!

We've completely redesigned the views, making them easier to use while adding great features for power users. With 19.1 you can now see more clearly which views you or your colleagues have created. If you are looking for a specific aqua view: The new search function will help you quickly.

You can add the best views to your favorites and with the "Combine" function you can use the intersection of several aqua views, so you can see directly, for example, which test cases are planned for this sprint and which of them failed.

Folder favorites

With aqua favorites you are even faster! With 19.1 aqua offers a new area where you can directly jump to the projects and folders that are most important to you with just one click. How do you set your personal favorites?

It's easy: Simply click on a folder and select "♥ Add to favorites" in the context menu. If you now click on the new favorite entry, aqua jumps directly to the appropriate folder or project.

A little trick: Double-clicking on a favorite will expand the complete path to the destination folder in the navigation tree.

User views per element type

aqua becomes tidier. Not every view makes sense for every element type. Grouping by execution status, for example, is great for test cases and scenarios, but uninteresting for defects. With version 19.1 it is possible to define for each aqua view for which element types it is intended. This makes the list of views tidier, more accessible and helps aqua teams target the right elements.

Preview in main window extended:

  • Test steps for test cases
  • Test cases in test scenarios Check this out. The new preview. What is the most interesting thing about test cases? For many of our users, it's the test steps. That's why we have extended the preview and now offer the possibility to directly display the test steps without having to open the test case separately. This helps testers and test managers to find the right test case even faster.

The preview of test scenarios has also been enhanced and offers an additional preview of the contained test cases.

Batch processing of elements

A classic use case: working through a list of elements.Whether updating defects or reviewing test cases, users often want to go through a series of elements one after the other.

Raise the curtain on aqua's new tab editing:

Select a list of elements and click "Open." Now simply jump between the elements in the same tab using the ← and → icons. Or even more convenient: use the shortcuts F7 and F8.

Everything in view - Dashboard auto refresh.

Thanks to the self-refreshing dashboards on the web, teams now have an even better overview of their projects. Changes are automatically refreshed every 5 minutes without user interaction. Ideal to be displayed e.g. on a TV in full screen mode.
