Best-Case: Test optimization at Deutsche Post

Best-Case: Test optimization at Deutsche Post

AGILE software development – new hype or a crucial skill for organizations in the digital age? Our test expert Christian Gawel knows the answer that Deutsche Post has found for itself. Because he has witnessed and significantly helped shape agile change processes in recent years.

Christian will present his experiences with agile test management to an interested audience of experts at the Software Quality Days 2020 in Vienna on 15 January, using the logistics industry as an example.

The lecture will be held under the motto: “Not just an agile change – how to optimize testing”. He will show how Deutsche Post masters agile software development and what role external specialists play in it. In his presentation he will analyze the complete project from the initial situation, the challenges and the desired results.

The project at a glance:

CHALLENGE: Introduction of a completely new test approach at a leading global logistics company

SOLUTION: Extensive automation of all systems in several stages, including the introduction of optimized data documentation and a new test-driven development.

New requirements in the form of user stories change the structure and development of tests. But what about the existing functionality? How can existing regression tests still be used and how can tasks be optimized to save time. Until now, test management and automation were combined in one tool. But long release cycles mean decreasing efficiency. For the agile approach of Deutsche Post, the complete test approach is being reconsidered as well as extensive automation for both systems. This reveals “golden” optimization potential – with simultaneous quality assurance.

Our team for the Software Quality Days in Vienna also includes Philip Pütz. Both will show the world why andagon experts are needed for test automation.
